Bookee Permissions
Here's a quick breakdown of the permissions required for Bookee:
-
activeTab
(details are forthcoming)
-
bookmarks
Allows the extension to access the bookmarks saved in
your browser. This is core to Bookee, and gives it
permission to read, edit and delete them.
-
notifications
Allows the extension to notify you, via native browser
notifications, of certain events. For example, when you
add a collection, remove a collection, or have a folder
shared with you, notifications will let you know.
-
scripting
(details are forthcoming)
-
storage
In order to make Bookee smarter over time (for example,
having it suggest links as you search that you click on
more frequently), Bookee needs to store data on your
computer. This data is not sent to any server, and only
exists on your computer.
-
tabs
In order for Bookee to have a great User Experience, it
attempts to only load bookmarks that aren't already open
in a tab. In order to see which tabs are open, Bookee
needs the tabs
permission.
-
topSites
The topSites
permission allows Bookee to
suggest links that might not be in your browser
bookmarks, but are sites you often go to. This makes
Bookee more useful, since otherwise you would have to
bookmark webpages that are part of your regular routine.
-
host_permissions.<all_urls>
Bookee works by embedding an iframe
on all
the tabs in your browser. It does this, so that when you
open it open, it's instantly available and ready to use.
This means that it needs access to all the URLs as you
use your browser.
